Meet The Founder

With more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience in the private, non-profit, and government sectors, Steve has developed and implemented campaigns at the national, regional, state and local levels.

Steve founded Whoa Nelly Media in mid-2024 and later that year joined Harley-Davidson of Asheville, serving as its Marketing & Events Coordinator until May 2026. There, he helped the dealership become Top 10 nationwide in 2025, a remarkable achievement given that the business and region were recovering from Hurricane Helene. Prior to working at Harley-Davidson of Asheville, Steve worked as Communications Coordinator for Daoist Traditions College of  Chinese Medicine in Asheville, NC.

For more than 13 years, Steve conducted marketing & communications campaigns for the Federal government. In Asheville, he served as Public Affairs Officer of the USDA Forest Service National Forests in North Carolina for four years and as Press Officer of the Forest Service’s Southern Research Station for three years. At the national level, Steve served as a Public Affairs Specialist for the USDA Farm Service Agency at its headquarters in our nation's capital for seven years where he created and managed campaigns across the country.  

He is the former Director of Communications of American Forests, the oldest conservation organization in the United States (based in Washington, DC), and the former Producer of The Environment Show, a nationally syndicated radio show aired on 175 NPR and ABC affiliates. 

Steve began his career in radio, working at  public and commercial radio stations in Upstate New York during and after college.

In his spare time, he enjoys watching ice hockey and other sports, riding his motorcycle, tending to the gardens on the family property, and spending time with his beautiful wife and son.
